I'm a researcher working in an academic institution, and I’m not sure what actions I need to take with my institution before I submit my idea?
We’re eager to hear about your ideas, no matter where you are -- including if you're a scientist working in an academic institution. If you have a great idea, you likely are intent on making sure the work you’re doing has the most substantial impact it can. That's why we launched the challenge to accelerate innovation in breast cancer in the first place - and we want to find you!
Your institution likely has a technology transfer office or legal department that can assist you before submitting your idea for consideration. You must contact them first to see if you have the right to submit your idea to GE, as the Terms & Conditions describe. Your technology transfer office will help in determining whether your invention would be better for licensing or for spinning off a company, and they can also tell you whether other steps are necessary before you submit your idea. Remember; don't submit any confidential information through the regular website submission form. If you need to speak with someone about how to submit confidential information to help us review your idea, just send us your contact information by following the link for "Ask an Expert" on our innovation website and someone will get back to you promptly to explain the process. We're here to help you with any question you may have.

Eligibility
I'm not incorporated, not a start-up company, nor work in an academic setting; but have an idea I want to submit. Is my idea welcome?
Great question. We've had several individuals ask whether only a "company" that has an idea can be considered for the healthymagination challenge.
We're looking for good ideas from anyone and from anywhere. All you have to do is meet the terms and conditions linked here. How you've incubated your ideas - in a corporation, academia, or as an entrepreneur - just shows that there is no single formula for creation and for success. We recognize how hard it is to engage industry, and that's why we want to objectively help assess and triage your technology. One of the reasons open innovation challenges are used is to help unravel the mystery of possible commercialization.
